How Do You Use Twitter?
Here's some ways I use Twitter:
The number one thing I use it for is to update my Facebook status.
After that, I use it to get local breaking news form the LA times. I subscribe to a few other news sources as well, but they are not as useful in an immediate sort of way.
A few weeks ago I started using trackthis. It works great. If fact last week, I was home checking Twitter and I got a message from trackthis that my package was delivered. So, I open the front door and there it was.
I mainly use Twinkle on the iPhone to update my Twitter which of course updates my Facebook status. When I tell people this that don't know what Twitter is, they think I am crazy. Anyway, back to Twinkle. The one cool thing it does is update my GPS location built into Twitter(found in your account settings) every time I post. Now what makes it really cool is you can see everyone else posts within a specified radius, mine is set to 5 miles. I get a lot of people posting from LAX, either coming or going. I have used it to asked where to get a good burrito and got quite a few responses. It's an interesting hyper-local chat room experiment.
Other interesting uses I have come across are:
LAFD - rescue and emergency posts.
trafficla - CHP traffic alerts - luckily, I only commute 2 miles.
WOOT - what's on sale right now.
Craigslist feeds such as lacraigslistjob
Thinking about those, there are about a half dozen other brands, news and info feeds that I would like see on Twitter.
